My 12th Birthday

Outside a window an aeroplane flies,
It gets smaller shining through night,
Then suddenly the small light dies,
But my candle still twinkles with light.

Beating my candle,
The chandelier twinkles
With the shining gold brambles,
And the glass rod twinkles.

In the hotel everyone cheers,
As the delicious foods appears,
Everyone stop and gobbles it up,
While I sit and watch them hop.

Then comes the cake with strawberry cream,
Twelve candles sitting on the top,
And in the center sits an ice cream,
Then suddenly my cake goes pop!

娘のバースデーは8月31日、Malaysia建国の日、ダイアナ妃の命日・・・・
留学生の娘にとってこのバースデーはラッキーもアンラッキーも持ち合わせている。
後、1日遅く生まれていたら現在の学年ではなく次の学年になっていただろう。同学年の中では月齢的に一番若い生徒です。同級生と並ぶと体格は親子のようと言っても過言ではなさそう！
英国は9月が新学年の始まり、曜日にもよりますが9月1日から学校が始まる、となると8月末にはイギリスに戻っていなければなりません。今年は9月1日が日曜日のため2日がトラベリングデー（子どもたちが学校に戻る日）です。
留学生活にも英国生活にも慣れた今年はぎりぎりの9月1日に日本を発つ事にしました。この日程はバースデーを日本で過ごすためのものでもあった訳です。
8月末にMalaysiaへの旅の予定も後に入り、マレーシア航空　MH88 30Aug KualaLumpur32:30-31Aug Narita 07:30で一旦日本へ戻り、その夜は念願かなって日本でのバースデー、翌日、ルフトハンザ航空成田午前便でLondon Heathrowに向かいました。マレーシアから日本へ戻り、24時間後に再度飛行機に乗る娘のために空港近くのホテルでこのような計画を立ててくださった皆様に感謝致します。9歳、10歳、11歳と寂しいバースデーでしたが、今年のバースデーは最高でした。12歳を充実あるものにしたいと思います！
